123. being a practicum teacher

it's been a while since i last wrote here..
been busy with lesson planning,
students,
school activities,
observations,
and more lesson planning..

there's the highs and lows of being a practicum teacher..
students can be angels on one day..
and the next you feel like strangling them..
relationships and trust is now established in the classroom..

i love entering their classes and to meet my kids..
but i really dread the part where lesson planning is involved..
it is a joy when you find out more about your students..
their experience, their likes and dislikes..
and i think it is an accomplishment when students readily open up to me..
to know that they see me as teacher they can trust..

5 down, 7 weeks more to go..
it is a joy that practicum is going to end then..
but it would be sad to leave my kids
since they are my first batch of students..
but for now..
more observations..
more lesson planning..

on a side note:

my favourite student left the school to be in a boarding school..he cycled all the way from his house early in the morning just to inform the both of us that today is his last day.. i was so touched by his effort..he could have just left the school without saying anything..and it was very sudden..but he did what he did..it was a brief goodbye thinking that i would meet him later on in the day..but sadly, i never got to see him again..cause he went back right after meeting us..he did not even enter the class though he came to school in the morning..at 13, he is so sure of what he wants in life..never have i met a 13 year old who is so confident and focussed in life..i wish you all the best, my boy..we will meet again one day..
